CoCubes OA: sections, pre-assessed profile and preparation

CoCubes, now part of Aon, powers a large slice of Indian campus and off-campus placement drives. What makes it different from a one-off OA is the pre-assessed profile: your CoCubes score sits in a recruiter-searchable database and can be reused across many company drives. If you have a CoCubes test scheduled, this page covers what to expect, what score gets you a shortlist, and how to prepare in a week.

The three sections and how the timer works

A standard CoCubes assessment has three sections, each with its own timer.

  • Aptitude — 35 questions in around 50 minutes. Quantitative, logical and verbal in a single section.
  • Computer Programming — 15 MCQs on OOP, data structures, DBMS, OS, plus 2 coding problems in the language of your choice.
  • Company-specific — set by the recruiter, either a written-English simulation, a domain MCQ set or another coding round.

Once you submit a section it locks. Some drives enable navigation within a section; some do not. Read the instructions page carefully before the timer begins.

The pre-assessed profile — what it changes

Unlike a HackerRank OA that only exists for one company, a CoCubes attempt is stored on your profile and made searchable to any recruiter using the CoCubes platform. Once you have taken a strong CoCubes test:

  • You are matched into shortlists for other CoCubes drives even without applying manually.
  • Your section-wise scores are visible, so a balanced profile beats a lopsided one.
  • Retakes are allowed but the latest score replaces the old — so retake only when you are confident you will beat your current number.

This changes the calculation. It is worth preparing for CoCubes as if it were an entrance exam, not a one-off OA.

Cut-offs for major recruiters

CoCubes does not publish official cut-offs and the numbers below come from candidate-reported patterns.

  • Amazon (through CoCubes screening): typically requires a strong Computer Programming score plus one coding problem solved fully.
  • Deloitte, EY, KPMG entry roles: around 65 to 75 percent on the aptitude section.
  • IT services (Infosys, TCS, Wipro variants using CoCubes): 60 percent overall with each section above 50.

Aim well above the reported band. The shortlist is usually ranked, not just filtered at the cut-off line.

The coding section — do not lose it

Candidates often walk out of a CoCubes test satisfied with the aptitude section and dismissive of the coding. That is where the shortlist really separates. A working solution on even one of the two coding problems, plus solid MCQs, will often lift you above candidates who topped the aptitude and blanked the code.

  • Do the MCQs first — they are quick points.
  • Read both coding problems, pick the easier one, and solve it fully before attempting the harder one.
  • Use the sample input to run and debug before submitting.

A 7-day CoCubes plan

  • Day 1: a full-length CoCubes mock, three sections back to back.
  • Day 2: Aptitude — arithmetic, DI and logical reasoning, 40 questions.
  • Day 3: Aptitude — verbal (RC, error spotting, para-jumbles), 30 questions.
  • Day 4: Programming MCQs — OOP, DBMS, OS, DS.
  • Day 5: Two coding problems in your chosen language, timed.
  • Day 6: Second full mock. Focus on pacing across the three sections.
  • Day 7: Revise your notes, check the CoCubes system requirements, sleep early.

Frequently asked

Can I retake a CoCubes test?
Yes, and the latest score replaces the old one on your pre-assessed profile. There is usually a cooldown period between attempts. Retake only when you are confident you will meaningfully beat your existing score, because a marginally different retake can wipe out a decent baseline.
How long is my CoCubes score valid?
Your pre-assessed profile stays visible to recruiters on the platform for around 12 months, and during that window you can be shortlisted for other CoCubes drives without applying manually. Treat a good CoCubes result as an asset that generates calls for the next year.
Is the CoCubes coding section harder than the aptitude?
The individual coding problems are usually easy to medium, but the time pressure and the parallel MCQs make it feel harder. Most eliminations happen at the coding stage because candidates over-invest in aptitude and rush the code.
Does CoCubes have webcam proctoring?
For most remote drives, yes. Your webcam feed is recorded and reviewed for suspicious frames, and tab-switching is logged. Do the test in a private, well-lit room with your phone out of reach and other apps closed.
What score do I need on CoCubes for Amazon?
Amazon has never officially published a CoCubes cut-off, but candidate reports consistently mention needing a strong Computer Programming score plus at least one coding problem solved end to end. Balanced aptitude helps, but the code is what carries the shortlist.
