Accenture's fresher process for Associate Software Engineer and higher packages typically runs as one long online assessment followed by interviews. The assessment usually bundles four parts: a Cognitive Assessment (English, critical reasoning, ability), a Technical Assessment (Pseudocode, fundamentals of networking, cloud, security, MS Office), a Coding round (usually two problems), and a Communication Assessment that scores spoken English via a recorded-voice tool.

Clearing the online stage moves you to a combined Technical + HR interview, sometimes split into two conversations. For the higher-package tracks (often branded Advanced or the Full Stack Engineer variant) expect a deeper coding conversation and a project discussion. The signal Accenture wants is consistency: solid basics, clean communication, and someone who will complete training and stay.

The Cognitive section leans on verbal ability (error spotting, sentence completion, reading), numerical and logical reasoning, and a short abstract-reasoning block. Time pressure is the real difficulty, not depth.

The Pseudocode segment is Accenture's signature. You get 15-20 MCQs asking for the output of a snippet, the value of a variable after a loop, or the correct missing line. Practise tracing loops, recursion, arrays and pointer logic on paper.

The Coding round is usually two problems around strings, arrays, number theory or simple greedy logic. You may code in C, C++, Java or Python. Partial test-case scoring is common, so submit a working brute force before chasing the optimal.

• Strong: passes most test cases, handles empty and boundary input, names variables clearly.
• Weak: hard-codes for the sample, ignores edge cases, or leaves the function un-compiled.

The technical interview stays close to your resume and CS fundamentals. Common threads: OOP concepts with a real example, DBMS (normalisation, joins, a SQL query to write aloud), a data-structure question, and one project deep-dive where you explain your role, the tech stack, and one hard problem you solved.

Frequent questions include: difference between an abstract class and an interface; what a primary versus foreign key is; explain a stack versus a queue with a use case; and write a query to find the second-highest salary. Keep answers concrete and lead with a one-line definition, then an example.

The HR round checks flexibility and intent. Expect why Accenture, willingness to relocate, comfort with any technology or shift, and a strength-weakness question. Accenture values candidates who signal adaptability across client projects. Have a crisp two-minute introduction and one story about learning something new fast.

A four-week prep plan

• Weeks 1-2: daily aptitude sets plus 20 pseudocode-output problems; revise C/Java basics.
• Week 3: two coding problems a day on arrays, strings and hashing; write out SQL and OOP answers.
